- Selection, production, management, and health of dairy goats
- Financing and purchasing dairy goats and marketing milk
- Live animal evaluation
- Establishing a producing herd and maintaining production records
- Exploring career opportunities in the dairy industry
What members can do: (Beginner level)
- Identify breeds of dairy goats
- Identify parts of the dairy goat
- Care for and exhibit a dairy goat
- Develop basic skills in evaluating dairy goats
- Present illustrated talks and demonstrations on dairy goat topics
What members can do: (Intermediate level)
- Select and develop does for the producing herd
- Keep financial records and evaluate profit or loss
- Develop a good herd health program
- Develop management skills
- Promote dairy goat products through demonstrations
What members can do: (Advanced level)
- Establish and manage a producing herd
- Establish sanitation guidelines
- Utilize production records in management decisions
- Establish markets for milk and wethers
- Serve as a teen leader and teach younger members
- Explore career opportunities in the dairy industry
