dairy cattle Type of cattle raised mainly for its milk.
dairy products

Products made from milk.

dandelion A plant, native to Eurasia, widely naturalized as a weed in North America and having many-rayed yellow flowers and deeply notched basal leaves sometimes used in salads.
Dawes Act A Congressional Act which divided tribal lands among individual tribal members and allowed the surplus to be sold to non-Indians.
dazzling Something that inspires admiration or wonder.
debt That which is due from one person to another.
decay The destruction of or decomposition of organic matter as a result of bacterial or fungal action.
deciduous Shedding or losing foliage at the end of a growing season.
denominator The quantity below the line indicating the number of units into which a whole is divided.
descendant A person born into a particular family.
decompose To decay.
decomposition Organic decay
decomposers Organisms which break material down into parts and caused them to rot.
dictionary A reference book containing an alphabetical list of words, with information given for each word, usually including meaning, pronunciation, and etymology.
diet The usual food and drink of a person or animal.
dietitian A person who studies nutrition as it relates to health.
digest To transform food into an assimilable condition, as by chemical and muscular action in the alimentary canal.
digging stick A straight, pointed stick, sometimes weighted with a stone, used in digging up roots and later for soil cultivation.
dill seed The seeds of an aromatic herb native to the Old World. The leaves and seeds of the dill plant are used as a seasoning and are suitable for sprouting.
Diplopoda Any of various segmented, cylindrical arthropods, including the millipedes.
doe A female goat
dome construction Construction built with a hemispherical roof or vault.
domesticate To train or adapt a plant or animal to live in which some processes are slowed down or suspended.
domesticated animal An animal that has many of its needs provided by humans.
dominant Most prominent.
dormant In a condition of biological rest or inactivity.
down Fine, soft, fluffy feathers forming the first plumage of a young bird and underlying the contour feathers in certain adult birds.
downey brome A kind of grass with spikelets in loose, often drooping clusters.
draft horse A type of horse used to pull wagons or heavy loads.
drone A male honeybee, characteristically stingless, which performs no work and produces no honey.
drought A long period of abnormally low rainfall, especially one that adversely affects growing or living conditions.
drought-resistant The adaptations that enable plants to survive under drought conditions.
dung Manure; the excrement of animals.
Dust Bowl Part of the Great Plains region of the US which is subject to severe droughts.
