Corn Husk Dragonfly

Wings

  1. Smooth out a 10-inch piece of corn husk, and fold it in half across the middle.
  2. Using scissors, round off the free ends and open flat again.
  3. Twist and tie tightly at the fold, using an 8-inch piece of string. Leave the ends of the string untrimmed. Set aside.

Body

  1. Roll a 6-inch square of corn husk into a cylinder.
  2. Glue along the edge to keep it from unrolling.
  3. Tightly tie a piece of string about 1/2 inch from one end and another near the center of the cylinder.
  4. Tie the wings to the body at the center, using existing wing
    string.
  5. Use small spots of glue to help hold the wings in place.
  6. Use diluted water color paint to streak the wings with color.
  7. Add beads or straight pins with heads for the eyes.
  8. Decorate the dragonfly with sequins, glitter or other materials.
